Henrik Loy, a captain in the Royal Caribbean International, (RCI) has described the Wonder of the Seas ship as a marvel.
The Wonder of the Seas is Royal Caribbean’s fifth Oasis-Class cruise ship, and the largest cruise ship in the world. It was built in the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, and set sail out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in March 2022. With a length of 1,188 feet, a width of 210 feet, and a gross tonnage of 236,857, the Wonder of the Seas is a massive vessel of wonder.
Loy had a question-and-answer session with guests of the Wonder of the Seas in a show called Captain’s Corner.
We discovered more about this reputable captain in the Captain’s Corner. Loy is from a town called Bergen in Norway. It is on the West coast, a maritime place deeply rooted in seafaring traditions. It is also the gateway to the beautiful fjords of Norway.
He talked about his modest beginnings. From the very bottom of the hierarchy, Loy respectfully worked his way up to Chief Captain, and is now the Wonder of the Seas’ glorified captain.
“For the last twelve years, I have been a captain in the Royal Caribbean on a few different ships. On here on the Wonder of The Seas, it’s been since April and that is a great honor and a pinnacle moment in my career.” He told guests of the show.
Godfrey Times Travel had a travel chat with Loy after the show.
The humble captain described the design of the Wonder of the Seas ship as “a marvel” on the travel chat.
He also said, “it’s the most fantastic ship for families,” adding that “it’s a pinnacle of what we have built so far.”
