By Godfrey Igboin

Warrior activist, Josephine 'Joe' Obiajulu Okei-Odumakin, Nigerian women's rights activist, President of the rights groups "Women Arise for Change Initiative" and the "Campaign for democracy" meets 'first female talking drummer' in Nigeria, reputed to have a tremendous international personality ー drum goddess ARA.

The work visit by the drum goddess at the Women Arise secretariat put Dr Joe, a gallant woman of courage in great joy and in that feeling of happiness, she appreciated Ara for threading where men have feared to thread.

"The talking drum is something I really like and the rhythmic sounds from it, that you beat out so well, thrills me a lot, " Dr Odumakin was quoted as saying.

" I am amazed and moved by your passion for the empowerment of the Girl Child ─ an objective of the Drummer Girl Foundation ─ a fruition of your innovative strength, I welcome with my whole heart."

"We are very glad about your visit. "

She engaged the drum goddess with soul-touching cases of women and girls who are victims of misuse and abuse that Women Arise have attended to and expressed great sadness at the way these women and girls were being dehumanized.

Responding, Ara who fought back tears during the engagement of the warrior activist's narration said that on the strength of the fact that she was once a victim of this despicable acts, she understands very well and hugely appreciate the impacts of "Women Arise for Change Initiative" in the lives of these women and girls.

"I am totally in tears within me having watched and heard this experiences of dire abuse and dehumanized victims and it has caused me to the need for making myself available for this fight. "

She shared how Drummer Girl Foundation has been able to restore a woman with three children begging on the streets back to their place of residence in Sango Otta by giving her much more than the house rent she owed so she can have enough to start up with. Plus other women of related problems DGF has taken and planning to take off the streets.

Stunned by the realization of the drum goddess as an unsung activist, Dr Odumakin thanked ARA for having done so much of that and welcomed her interest of being part of the management team but the international woman of courage recognized by erstwhile first lady and Secretary of state to the United States, Michelle Obama and John Kerry disclosed that the drum goddess will be made an ambassador for "Women Arise for Change Initiative".
