OVERVIEW:NFVCB APPROVES 46 MOVIES IN OCTOBER, 2017





The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has verified and approved a total of 46 movies for the month of October, 2017.    

The Director of Film Censorship and Classification Mrs. Fatyma Sa'adu gave a breakdown of the movies verified and approved for viewership at homes and in cinemas.   

This shows that English language category which is 29 in number, accounts for 53.6 percent of a total movies approved, followed by Hausa  language category with 15 movies.
  
 A further perusal shows as follows:  Yoruba language movies 1, Igbo language movies 1, Efik and pidgin language movies each had none approved in the period under review.
 
The approved movies are to be released with their respective consumer advisories of violence, ritual, imitable technique, fetish practice, strong language, sex and drug use.

A further look at the verified and approved movies by their ratings showed that no movie has the "G'" rating, implying for general viewing, 16 movies were rated "15" meant only for persons 15 years and above, while 26 movies were rated "18", meant for mature audiences, 1 movie was rated "12" meant only for persons 12 years and above and 3 movies were rated "PG", implying Parental Guidance.
  
"PG" rated movies include;   Arfat (Hausa), Auren Gado (Hausa) and Sani Makaho (Hausa).

Some of the "15" rated movies include; Agbomma the village girl (English), Family  violence (English), Fas'alu (Hausa), Fuskan Rayuwa (Hausa), Kece Muradina (Hausa), Lost (English), Lying Game (English), Myin Yarinya (Hausa), Nwababy (English), Royal Seed (English), Zonal Leader (English).
 
The "18" rated movies are; Deadly Affair (English), Dan Almajiri (Hausa), Deep Secret (English), Ewo Ife (Yoruba), Ofordile (Igbo), Pains of the Rich (English) amongst others.  Only 12  rated movie is Beyond the Score line (English).

The Director of FCC further decried the low number of movies meant for children and general audience and encouraged movie makers to produce more movie for children and general viewing.
