Ever since our dear mama Susanne Wenger passed on, no one has bothered his/herself with attempting to kick off the awareness or promotion of our tourist-driven culture and heritage.
Startled by this, ARA stirred up an idea that birthed the movie OSUNFUNKE. To support and continue from where she stopped.
To appreciate her efforts, dignitaries from the entire state of Osun, and across the nation flooded the premiere of OSUNFUNKE. The thrill from the essence of the day was not to be missed at all!
As every moment of its revelry is going to be treasured, since nothing like it has ever happened in Osogbo before.
Plus, no one can tell if it will ever happen again; this was a must-attend event.
Overjoyed by the legions of guests, the queen of drums -ARA welcomed them all with the assuring look of you-will-be-glad-you-came. They most surely were glad they did!
As the very first female traditional talking-drummer in Africa, who has a reputation for showcasing the heritage and tourism potentials of the Yoruba culture with her unique identity, stunned attendees with her glittering best in her performance.
They stood in utmost awe as the talking drum queen dazzled with the rhythmic sounds she beat out. That takes you to the origin of the Yoruba race — Ile-Ife. It lauds out the historical potential of the state of Osun.
Still awed, attendees had more to enjoy from the peak of fun by the queen’s singing prowess as she sang kulunso.
The premiere held on Thursday, 12 October 2017, took place at Aurora Conference & Events Center, Osogbo. It was huge with so much, and chief amongst them was the launching of the Drummer Girl Foundation/unveiling of the logo. The Deputy Governor of the State of Osun did this, Otunba Titilayo Laoye Tomori.
The screening of Osunfunke delighted attendees as the must-see movie was comedic, informative, and shed more light on the immense potential of the State of Osun.
