Provided the contact information on the business page is correct and linked to the account, the account would be verified.
A small number of businesses have already been verified following the company’s pilot scheme. A green badge next to a contact name means that WhatsApp has confirmed that the phone number of the contact belongs to a business account.
According to WhatsApp, there is also an updated feature that will enable users to know when they are talking to a business contact.
“WhatsApp will also let you know when you start talking to a business via yellow messages inside a chat,” the company said.
However, unlike chatting with a regular contact, there is no way to delete the messages with a business from the chat.
Users can also avoid being contacted frequently by a business account by simply blocking them.
