Runtown’s award of
African artist of the year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards aroused thoughts
of Nigeria’s greatness in the minds of entertainment pundits at the event. At
the after party of the awards, those thoughts became a discussion with VVIP fans
and it was a long enlightening chat with credible facts. How well informed they
were about Nigerian acts stunned me strongly.
It started with huge gladdening comments of appreciation to runtown’s ‘Mad over You’ and great acknowledgement of Tekno’s
‘Pana’. It was a discussion that touched every genre of music and from their
pocket of thoughts, perspectives on every Nigerian act were given and it came
with the assessment of their brand of music, its values and influence. Startled
by the name Ara, curiosity overtook my mind and it resulted into wanting this
gathering of enlightening discussion to elaborate their perspective on
Nigeria’s first female talking drummer.
One of the VVIP fans,
Miss Nana Yaa, told Godfreytimes that it’s a given that Ara’s brand of music
stands out exceedingly and it is highly recognized as a brand that resonates
with the Yoruba culture. Which the people of Accra –the Ga tribe trace their
roots to –a place called Ife in Osun state. And it is critical to the feel of
the movie industry and essentially an image of awareness to tourism in Nigeria.
She projects not just Nigeria but Africa as a continent. She added
Shaking my head to
that agreeable fact, Miss Hinvi, a Beninese said that her music is emotionally
connected to everything, she paired her personality with her brand of music
then created the value that she needs to capture global recognition and develop
genuine connection with her esteemed fans.
Now I am very familiar
with Ara but this perspectives by foreigners’ jumpstarted my state of awareness
to the fact that they recognize fully what this brand of music symbolizes and
that was an eye opener to reasons why the tourist guru felt the need to create
a similar brand.
The idea of this write up germinated, (in the gathering of discussion
during the after party of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2017) I decided to
research into why wanle akinboboye is obsessed with the Ara brand –the first
female talking drummer. In the process, I discovered that she identified the audience
that will appreciate her unlike anything else offering –she trusted her gift
and seeing herself as unique, made her would-be pace followers irrelevant
because she knew that she had something ‘special’ to offer. And this resulted
to the “extra factor” in her brand of music that caused her emerging on the
platform of Atunda Entertainment as managed by President and founder of La
campagne Tropicana Beach Resort –Dr Olawanle Akinboboye.
Godfreytimes gathered
that Ara values spirituality, connectedness, abundance, and authenticity. Her
brand of music is a powerful manifestation of those values she is much aligned
with and that keeps her motivated, and inspired in the rendition of this brand
of music that is a vision of who she is and what she does for her fans. It
encompasses a message that expresses what makes her an image of rarity and
distinguishes her from pace followers.
Furthering on in the process, I find this brand is
a trigger mechanism that sparks awareness of abundance in our culture as
Nigerians, and of course Africans. Evidently connected with our belief and it
is impactfully touristy. It portrays a message that cuts across the spheres of
the entertainment industry as a whole and goes beyond the continent to the
world.
The absence of this tourist-movie-culture-entertainment-driven
brand is much more than a missing piece in Atunda Entertainment as managed by
Mr. Wanle Akinboboye who came up with the recreation of this brand by having a
replication of Ara, not knowing that her triple-threat brand has an unlike
anything else identity powered by God’s
dominion.
As we well know, image is everything in the music industry
and her brand of music is built around the image she puts forward and that
image is linked to the preconceptions that form in the public mind as they are
familiar with her. But six years of having such a huge brand of music with
tremendous value under your management pushed him into the spheres of obsessing
over a brand with great identity of Nigeria and Africa that engages the world
with symbols of our unlike anything else belief, traditions et al.
Nigeria is a great country with people of immense values and
Ara’s brand rightly seconds this fact and she is largely among those who
position Nigeria positively well.
Nigerian-Mandopop singer Emmanuel Uwechue aka Hao Ge told
Godfreytimes in a chat that everyone knows Ara is
a wonder that comes like a thunder, she is well above a contributing factor to
the growth of the entertainment industry –that versatile brand of music is a
vital branch to Nigeria’s tree of development and Africa will gladly be
affected positively.
If the prospects in her brand of music is harnessed by the
federal government, we would be amaze with what the future will be like. Hao Ge
added
The very first female talking drummer, mother of all drums,
is without doubt an impactful wonder to establish with and those in the know,
who are well aware of that, waste no time in doing what should be done. The
values in this brand of music are immensely influential to tourism, movies and the
music industry, our culture –Nigeria and Africa to the world. It is immensely a
promotional brand.
Admittedly, I was stunned by Nana Yaa and Miss. Hinvi’s vista but they egged me on to looking at the real reasons why this pace-setting brand
was replicated. So I unselfishly thought I should share it with my esteemed
readers.
