| Ace Nollywood Actor Yemi Blaq |
Ace Nollywood Actor, Yemi Blaq, is one of those rarely privileged actors with consistency in the limelight ever since he captured the Nollywood recognition.
Blaq has contributed greatly to the admiration of our movies home and beyond with his God-given approving way of acting.
In this interview, Blaq told Godfretimes that coming from the very bottom of the wrong, he climbed wrong by wrong till he finally got it right.
Seeing that you were guided into what you are supposed to do from a very early stage in life, which is a good time to start, with of course your esteemed parents's support...could you kindly brief me on how impactfully great this was?
It is really nice to have the support of your parents in whatever you do, especially knowing that you have a talent and you have a passion and you feel very strongly towards. So having that support from home is just a blessing and an icing on the cake because it just makes you feel like you can go out there and conquer the world.
Watching your movies I find you obviously have always wanted to act and i can tell you love acting as you do it approvingly well...with over 250 movies your talent has really been used in the industry because you are 'good'. How has the experience been?
Yes um its very obvious I've always wanted to act and the thing about it, it wasn't easy at the beginning but then I just kept on trying, I kept working harder, making sure that I was true to art, I was true to myself and try to go as much as I could and ultimately it transformed into what you see today. So am really grateful for the beginnings, its been a really, really interesting experience, coming from the very bottom of the wrong, climbing wrong by wrong till I finally got it right.
The movie 'Iyore' was with powerful casts and when I saw you in the making of the movie, I said YES complete film. And you played the character so well I must say but how challenging was it?
It wasn't too challenging playing the character in 'Iyore' . it was really really nice I liked it. it's not my personality, i am not a violent person but you know, as an actor, you walk through life everyday you see things happen, you see drama play out and you take from that put it into character and make it as real as possible.
In Jenifa's diary your uniqueness followed through with you and it was hugely gladdenning . How jolly was it like being in that renowned comedy series?
It was really funny when I got the call to be a part of Jenifa's diary because um, i mean its really very popular and if anyone who wants to be a part of success . also it was a chance for me to show my fans a bit of me that they have never seen before. because of the way I am, the way that I carry myself and the sternness that characterises my face a lot of times, people tend to think that I am uppity or snubbish or any of those things that I'm not so it was just the chance to show them the playful, friendly and comedic part of me.
A well deserved endoresement deal with Gulder few years ago but we aspire to get bigger as life goes on...what bigger pictures are you hoping to hang on your wall this year?
Oh yes, oh yes, it was very nice to be chosen as an ambassador for Gulder. I am in talks with some organisations right now that wants me to also be an ambassador for them so its not something that I am allowed to speak about at the moment. Am also thinking of a couple of projects that I'll be involved in, my own personal projects this year. so there's still a lot of things in the work, and yes it was a great honour I appreciate it.
