South African celebrities have responded with surprise to the news that the UK has voted to leave the European Union.
The results of a referendum, held in the region on Thursday, brought shock to much of the world.
As stock markets responded to the news, people from across the globe took to social media to share their thoughts on the decision.
Local celebrities, including Maps Maponyane, Danny K and Simphiwe Dana, were among the hundreds of users in South Africa who responded to the news, which soon trended.
TV host Khanyi Dhlomo summarised the chaos when she posted a picture of London with the words: "And so we wake up to #Britain having voted to leave the European Union, turmoil in global financial markets and a plummeting British pound. Wow! What a time to be alive."
Other celebs preferred to let emoticons and memes do the talking.

Some celebs followed the belief that the world had come to an end.
Rapper Tumi Molekane posted a picture of a split egg with the halves representing Britain and the EU, he wrote: "Here come the bull$h1t."
While, others couldn't help but bring US presidential candidate Donald Trump into the equation.
Musician Toya Delazy brought the debate back home, reminding her fans that Britain had not let Africans vote before colonising the continent.

TV sports presenter Elma Smit lightened the mood by reminding South Africans that the day is not all doom and gloom.
"Need to escape Brexit gloom? Happy thoughts: today 21yrs ago SA rugby changed forever," she wrote.
